I wondered if I was a bit too old to transition to starting my own leadership development company and speaking career after having a 9-5 job for 12 years.
But then I said to myself that I didn’t want to “live a life of quiet desperation” as Thoreau once said. I went out and took one step forward despite not knowing if it was the right direction or not.
And then I took another.
Along the way my inner critic said that I should have taken the leap years earlier.
Then I realized that all of my professional experiences from working for Lorne Michaels at SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, to being a TED-Education Award-Winning Educator to integrating a lifelong hobby into my work, as well as all of my setbacks prepared me to do what I’m doing now.
If I didn’t go through all of that, then the wisdom that I’ve earned wouldn’t have prepared me to “step confidently in the direction of my dreams” after following a more traditional path.
