A few Lessons Learned from being on the winning team of @Easylabs, Founded by @Tom Petersil (1 of 8 Health Tech start-ups selected in a world-wide search out of an initial 3800 entries) for inclusion in HealthInc’s Amsterdam-based 2020 health tech incubator.
– The Founder needs to be able to deliver a meaningful, passionate vision in a clear 60 second pitch.
– The team counts for 50% or more in an entrepreneurial team (as reinforced to us by one of Europe’s most successful entrepreneurs who has overseen hundreds of successful start-ups)
– Say ‘yes’ to opportunities that stretch you and get you out of your comfort zone.
– Having a professional range of skills in different fields is a differentiator not a liability.
– Start every possible business conversation with warmth before competence.
– There is enormous value in contributing to, and being surrounded by purpose-driven innovators.
– Taking feedback well and with class, being coachable, practicing empathy and listening well are must-have skills for today’s international business entrepreneur.
-Prediction: the Netherlands will be Europe’s leader in health tech innovation over the next decade, based on what I observed, the entrepreneurs I met and being in Amsterdam this past week.
