How does the structure of your workweek impact your life?
Your organization might not have a people problem, it may have a structure problem.
Former SNL cast member, Will Ferrell thought that pulling all-nighters on Tuesday was a bad idea and unhealthy. The cast did it because it was tradition. Eventually, the cast stopped doing it because it no longer served their creative objectives and reduced burn-out in the process.
You can learn something important from how a team manages their time over a week. At SNL, the 7-day structure is:
Monday: Pitch sketch ideas for the upcoming show
Tuesday: Create and revise sketches
Wednesday: Read-through sketches. Of 40, 8 are selected.
Thursday: Selected sketches form the final draft.
Friday: Selected sketches are revised. Blocking + Walk-Through occur.
Saturday: Dress-Rehearsal. Show goes LIVE.
Sunday: Rest and formulate ideas for Monday Sketch Pitch.
How can you revise your team’s structure to create a balanced work-life culture and adapt to changing problems?
I explore this question with organizations through my workshop: SATURDAY NIGHT LEADERS: How to Solve Problems Keeping You Up Until 3AM https://lnkd.in/gHpewCn
